Putting reward points on a row of their own
When a payment method pays points, it belongs in the same allocation problem.
Cards are not the only things that pay rewards now. Payment services and memberships often pay by category with a monthly cap of their own. The structure is the same, so the arithmetic belongs in the same place.
A row on the wallet screen therefore does not have to be a card. Write the name you use for it, put in the rate and the cap, and it is counted the same way. If there is no monthly requirement, leave that field empty.
This page only handles reward points. Stored balances and small deferred payments are regulated financial products, so there is no field for them here and no number from that side enters the calculation.
Write the name of the service however you like. We use no logo and no brand colour, and we never fill in a rate for you.
Converting points into won before comparing matters. Some points are worth one won each and some can only be spent in a narrow place, so adding them at face value overstates the total. This page takes rates in won, so if a point is worth less than a won, scale the rate down by that much and the answer moves closer to life.
Points you will never spend are worth nothing. Rewards with a short expiry, or with nowhere convenient to use them, sit closer to the truth if you leave them out entirely. That judgement is yours, and we do not discount them on your behalf.
